Tottenham Hotspur 0-3 Nottingham Forest: Clinical Forest deepen Spurs relegation fears

Nottingham Forest boosted their Premier League survival hopes with a ruthless 3-0 victory over a lackluster Tottenham Hotspur, leaving Igor Tudor’s side just one point above the relegation zone.

On a tensed afternoon in north London, Forest capitalised on a fragile Spurs defence as Igor Jesus, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Taiwo Awoniyi all found the net to secure a vital three points for Vítor Pereira’s side.

Despite dominating possession for large periods of the first half, Tottenham lacked a clinical edge, with Mathys Tel striking the crossbar before the visitors took control. The defeat—Spurs’ fourth in their last five league games—was met by a chorus of boos at the final whistle as the pressure intensifies on Tudor.

Forest find their rhythm

Tottenham began with the intensity expected of a side fighting for their top-flight lives. Tel was a constant threat on the left, and the Frenchman was inches away from an opener when his curling effort clipped the woodwork with Matz Sels beaten.

However, the momentum shifted decisively on the stroke of half-time. Neco Williams delivered a pinpoint corner and Igor Jesus outjumped a static Spurs backline to power a header past Guglielmo Vicario.

The goal drained the confidence from the home side, and Forest doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute. A swift counter-attack saw Callum Hudson-Odoi square for Morgan Gibbs-White, who was allowed the freedom of the penalty area to slot home from 12 yards.

Disarray in N17

Tudor introduced Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie in an attempt to salvage a result, but the changes did little to disrupt a disciplined Forest defensive block.

The misery was compounded in the 87th minute when Taiwo Awoniyi, only on the pitch for ten minutes, tapped in at the far post following another excellent delivery from Williams. Thousands of Spurs fans headed for the exits long before the end, leaving the away end to celebrate a result that moves Forest three points clear of the bottom three.

Pressure mounting on Tudor

The Premier League now pauses for a three-week international break, a period that will undoubtedly involve heavy scrutiny of Tudor’s position. Since his appointment in February, Tottenham have struggled for domestic consistency, and they now face a grueling final seven games to avoid their first relegation since 1977

For Forest, this represents a tactical masterclass from Pereira, whose side showed the composure and clinical finishing that their opponents so desperately lacked.

Player of the match: Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest)

The Welsh international was a constant outlet on the right, providing two assists and shackling Tottenham’s wingers with a tireless defensive performance.
