It was far from Germany’s best performance at Windsor Park in Belfast, but a 31st minute header from Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade gave Die Mannschaft a vital win and three points that took them to the top of UEFA World Cup qualifying group A, following up on last week’s 4-0 win over Luxembourg.
At first glance, it was a finely taken header from Woltemade from David Raum’s in-swinging corner, but the effort did actually come off of the top of the striker’s shoulder and into the back of the net, but any way will do for Julian Nagelsmann and company.
Aside from the goal, Germany were only able to register one other shot on target against what was a spirited Northern Ireland…
