Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League proved a memorable one for Bayer Leverkusen, who travelled to the Etihad Stadium with a gameplan that was executed to perfection, resulting in Kasper Hjulmand’s side running out 2-0 winners against the Premier League club.
Alejandro Grimaldo continued his excellent form, scoring his eighth goal for Leverkusen across all competitions this season, the most of any player for the club in the current campaign- the Spaniard doubling last season’s tally. Where Ibrahim Maza and Aleix Garcia excelled in central-midfield, it was Patrik Schick who doubled Leverkusen’s lead with a pinpoint header.
