Wayne Rooney has warned that Tottenham Hotspur is in a relegation battle under Thomas Frank, citing their poor recent form. In an interview with BBC Sport on Monday The former England captain expressed his concerns on The Wayne Rooney Show, stating, “You’d have to say they are [in a relegation battle] with their current form”.
Rooney pointed out that Spurs’ struggles are evident, with a seven-game winless run in the Premier League, leaving them 15th in the table, just six points above 18th-placed West Ham United. He also criticized captain Cristian Romero’s recent behavior, including a red card against Manchester United and a social media post criticizing the club’s hierarchy.
Rooney expressed sympathy for Frank, saying, “I feel for Thomas Frank because he looks tired, he looks like he’s aged 10 years. That’s what that Tottenham job has done to him in a short period of time”
Spurs’ struggles come after a turbulent period, finishing 17th last season under Ange Postecoglou, despite winning the Europa League. Their next five fixtures are tough, including matches against Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool.
