The financial realities of modern football are not making it any easier on a club like Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians are Germany’s strongest and most financially powerful club by some distance but face an increasingly steep hill to climb against Europe’s elite — several of which are backed by deep state-sponsored pocket books rather than their own financial success and discipline.
