From Ambassador to Owner: Cristiano Ronaldo Invests $7.5 Million in Herbalife Tech Venture

Cristiano Ronaldo invested around €6.4 million to become a shareholder in Pro2col, a nutrition technology company

In a move that signals a significant shift in his business strategy, global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has officially transitioned from a long-term brand ambassador to a strategic investor in Herbalife. Announced on February 18, 2026, the 41-year-old superstar has invested $7.5 million to acquire a 10% equity stake in HBL Pro2col Software, LLC, a cutting-edge health technology subsidiary of the nutrition giant.

The news sent shockwaves through the market, with Herbalife’s stock (NYSE: HLF) surging by more than 15% (reaching as high as 23% in intraday trading) immediately following the announcement

Rather than investing in the parent company’s general stock, Ronaldo has targeted Pro2col, Herbalife’s next-generation digital wellness platform. This venture is designed as a data-driven operating system that integrates

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): To provide personalized nutritional insights.
  • Biometric Tracking: Collecting user health and lifestyle data to build custom wellness plans.
  • Phased Rollout: A beta version is set to expand into the U.S. and EMEA markets by the first half of 2026.

Ronaldo’s relationship with Herbalife is one of the most enduring in sports history, beginning back in 2013. Over the last decade, the two collaborated on the Herbalife24® CR7 Drive sports drink, but this marks Ronaldo’s first publicly disclosed equity stake in the firm.

“Investing in Pro2col felt like a natural evolution,” Ronaldo said in a statement. “This is about helping shape and grow a platform that can truly change how people engage with their health and wellness. It’s what motivates me at this stage of my career.”

Herbalife CEO Stephan Gratziani noted that the investment underscores the Portuguese forward’s deep personal commitment to nutrition and science-backed recovery, particularly as he prepares for the 2026 World Cup.

The Growing CR7 Business Empire

This $7.5 million injection is a calculated addition to what is arguably the most diversified portfolio in professional sports. As the world’s highest-paid athlete (earning roughly $280 million annually), Ronaldo has spent the last few years aggressively expanding his “CR7” brand.

His current portfolio includes:

  • Hospitality: The Pestana CR7 hotel chain (with a new Paris location slated for 2027).
  • Tech & AI: An angel investment in the AI-powered search engine Perplexity.
  • Health & Fitness: CR7 Crunch Fitness gyms and the Insparya hair transplant clinics.
  • Media: His record-breaking YouTube channel, UR Cristiano, which currently boasts over 77 million subscribers.

The timing of the investment coincided with Herbalife’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings report, which showed a 6.3% jump in quarterly sales. Analysts view Ronaldo’s entry as an “ownership” stake as a massive credibility boost for Herbalife’s digital transformation. By leveraging Ronaldo’s 1.04 billion social media followers, Pro2col has an immediate, global marketing engine that few tech startups could ever afford.

As Ronaldo approaches the twilight of his playing career in Saudi Arabia, deals like the Pro2col venture ensure that his influence on the $5 trillion global wellness industry will continue long after he hangs up his boots.
