It is funny how things work out sometimes. In the summer, the narrative was that Liverpool FC had snatched away Bayern Munich’s most desired transfer target for many years in Florian Wirtz (which remains true), destroyed their dominance over hoarding all the German talent and gave them their leftovers in Luis Díaz for an inflated price. Now the narrative has changed, with Liverpool deeply regretting the sale of the hard working, irrepressible Díaz, who has proven impossible to replace, while Bayern have managed to secure a superstar that fits the system far better than Wirtz ever would have.
