Jamal Lewis: Preston North End sign defender on short-term deal

Preston North End have signed Northern Ireland international defender Jamal Lewis on a short-term deal until the end of December.

The 27-year-old has been without a club since leaving Newcastle United earlier this year, where he made 36 appearances in all competitions between 2020 and 2025.

Having begun his career at Norwich City, where he made 100 appearances, he also had spells on loan with Watford and Brazilian side Sao Paulo during his time at Newcastle.

“We’ve been struck by a few injuries which has made the squad look a bit thin, so we felt we needed more cover in the short term and I’m really happy we’ve been able to bring in someone of Jamal’s calibre,” boss Paul Heckingbottom said.Continue Reading
