Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna expects previous high-scoring encounters with Charlton Athletic to have “zero” relevance to Tuesday’s game at Portman Road.
Town beat The Addicks 4-0 under McKenna in April 2022 and the following season won 6-0 following a 4-4 draw at The Valley on their way to promotion from League One.
“They seem a lifetime ago. I’ve not thought about them in the context of this game 1% – it was a different era,” McKenna said.
“We’ve had a couple of good days against them, a draw that felt like a really bad day but this is brand new – new team, different division and we start from scratch.”
