Six months ago, Nick Woltemade had never played for Germany’s senior national team. Two months ago, Woltemade had never scored for Germany’s senior national team. Against Slovakia, Woltemade scored the goal that clinched Germany’s qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite the injury absences of Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala, Germany just rattled off five straight wins in World Cup Qualifying with a 16-1 goal differential. Woltemade started all five matches and contributed four goals plus an assist.
