Will Vaulks has won the Fifpro Players Voice award for his work in suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
Having lost two grandparents to suicide, the midfielder led Oxford’s Can We Talk? campaign in tribute to club legend Joey Beauchamp and Jack Badger, a young fan who took his own life shortly before World Mental Health Day.
The scheme has since launched suicide prevention workshops for Oxfordshire schools as well as piloting an innovative app designed to save lives.
Vaulks is also an ambassador of the UK’s largest suicide-awareness initiative Baton of Hope and works with Oxford United in the Community and the Joey Beauchamp Foundation.
