Sonny Carey: Charlton Athletic match-winner savours ‘incredible feeling’

Charlton Athletic goal hero Sonny Carey described his stoppage-time winner against West Bromich Albion as an “incredible feeling”.

His deflected shot past Baggies keeper Josh Griffiths in the 96th minute took Charlton up to fifth in the table.

Carey told BBC Radio London: “I thought we deserved to win the game. We had the better of the chances, and I kept saying to the lads – even late on – we will get a chance.

“When the ball dropped to me, I like to shoot anyway, but I just thought ‘I’m gonna hit one’. There were a lot of bodies there and the feeling when it went it was incredible.
