Title Race Hits at Gtech Stadium As Brentford Hold Arsenal to 1-1 Draw

Date: February 12, 2026
Venue: Gtech Community Stadium
Result: Brentford 1-1 Arsenal
Scorers: Noni Madueke (61’); Keane Lewis-Potter (71’)

Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to pull six points clear at the top of the Premier League table on Thursday night, as a resilient Brentford side fought back to earn a deserved 1-1 draw. In a match where the Gunners often looked second-best, Mikel Arteta’s men will likely view the result as a point gained rather than two lost, despite leading for a significant portion of the second half.
A Cagey Opening
The first half was a tactical stalemate, registering the second-lowest shot count for a Premier League opening 45 minutes this season. Brentford, however, looked the more threatening. David Raya, returning to his former home, was forced into a world-class reflex save in the 22nd minute to deny Igor Thiago’s goal-bound header.
Arsenal’s only real threat before the interval came from a Gabriel header that was blocked at the near post, leaving the visitors frustrated and struggling to find their rhythm against the Bees’ high energy.

The Breakthrough
The game finally ignited just past the hour mark. Piero Hincapié, starting in place of Riccardo Calafiori, delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post. Noni Madueke rose brilliantly above Rico Henry to guide a header past Caoimhín Kelleher, scoring his 15th goal of the season and sending the traveling fans into a frenzy.
The Bees Sting Back
The lead lasted just ten minutes. Brentford turned to their “not-so-secret weapon”—the long throw. Kayode launched a massive delivery into the heart of the box, which was flicked on by Sepp van den Berg. Keane Lewis-Potter anticipated the second ball perfectly, diving to header the equalizer into the top corner at the 71st-minute mark.
A Grandstand Finish
The final ten minutes were pure chaos.

  • Igor Thiago had two massive chances to win it for Brentford, blazing one effort over the bar from close range.
  • Gabriel Martinelli, introduced late from the bench, found himself one-on-one with Kelleher in stoppage time, but the Irish keeper produced a sprawling save to preserve the point.
