Freddie Woodman signs new Liverpool contract
Liverpool have announced goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has signed a contract extension with the club.
The 29-year-old joined the Reds on a free transfer last summer and made four appearances during his debut campaign.
”I am extremely happy to renew my contract with Liverpool,” Woodman said. “Since joining, I have felt a wonderful connection with the fans, especially after my participation in the Crystal Palace match, and now I look forward to continuing this journey with this great club.”
He added that last season was “special” and that his family were delighted with the decision to extend his stay at Anfield.
Woodman made his Liverpool debut in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace before making his Premier League debut in the Merseyside derby against Everton. He subsequently stepped in for two further league starts following injuries to Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili, earning a player of the match award in a victory over Palace.
He will continue working as part of Liverpool’s goalkeeping unit under manager Andoni Iraola, insisting he will prepare in the best possible way to be ready whenever required in the new season.
