The decision comes on the heels of a deeply tumultuous stretch for Italian football, which saw the aborted appointment of Andrea Pirlo quickly unravel alongside the sensational resignations of executive figures Paolo Maldini and Leonardo.
Mancini’s return brings a familiar face back to the Azzurri dugout.
