Bayern Munich Thrash Osnabrück 4-1 in DFB Cup as Kane Scores Twice
Bayern Munich eased into the last 32 of the DFB Cup with a 4-1 win away at VfL Osnabrück, Harry Kane scoring twice either side of a impressive display from Michael Olise.
Osnabrück gave the holders an early fright when Robin Meißner put the hosts ahead after just five minutes. But Bayern responded in style, Kane levelling in the 18th minute before Tom Bischof fired them in front six minutes later.
The hosts had shown promise in the opening quarter of an hour, but once Bayern seized control they never let go, finishing the match with 67% of possession.
Olise was the standout performer, completing five dribbles and six key passes on his way to a man-of-the-match display. He got in on the scoring himself in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1 and put the tie beyond doubt. Kane completed his brace from the penalty spot in the 86th minute.
The statistics underlined Bayern’s dominance throughout: 711 passes completed to Osnabrück’s 296, and 22 shots to the hosts’ five, nine of them on target. Inside the box, Bayern had 14 attempts to Osnabrück’s solitary effort, while the visitors also had the game’s only eight corners.
It was a first-ever meeting between the two sides, and one that ended exactly as the form book suggested. Osnabrück’s cup run is over, while Bayern move into the next round having made their superiority count.
