Genoa complete loan signing of Robinho's son from Santos

Genoa have completed the signing of Robinho Junior on a season-long loan from Santos, with the Brazilian teenager set to spend the rest of the campaign in Serie A.

The 18-year-old, son of former Real Madrid and Manchester City forward Robinho, moves to Italy having made 27 appearances for Santos, the majority from the bench. He has one assist to his name but is yet to open his goalscoring account in official competition.

The agreement includes an option for Genoa to make the move permanent for €8m, with a further €2m potentially due to Santos should the youngster earn international recognition with either Brazil or Italy, for whom he qualifies through his mother.

It represents the first step outside his homeland for Robinho Junior, who follows in his father’s footsteps by testing himself in European football.
