Official: John Stones Joins Inter Milan
Inter Milan have completed the signing of England defender John Stones from Manchester City ahead of the new season.
Born in Barnsley, the 32-year-old began his footballing journey with Penistone Church before joining Barnsley’s academy, where he transitioned from a forward into a ball-playing centre-back.
After making his senior debut for Barnsley in 2012, Stones moved to Everton, establishing himself as one of the country’s top emerging defenders and earning his first caps for the national team.
He joined Manchester City in the summer of 2016, going on to develop into one of the world’s premier defenders under Pep Guardiola thanks to his tactical intelligence, composure, and passing range.
During a trophy-laden spell at Etihad Stadium, Stones made 295 appearances, scored 19 goals, and won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups, and the Champions League, alongside the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
The 94-cap international has also been a key figure for England, helping the Three Lions reach consecutive European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024, as well as securing a third-place finish at the 2026 World Cup following victory over France.
Stones’ move to Serie A marks his first spell playing outside of English football as he looks to bring his wealth of top-level experience to the Italian giants.
