Official: Jordan Henderson joins Chelsea on free transfer
Chelsea have completed the signing of veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson on a free transfer following his departure from Brentford.
The 36-year-old England international has signed a contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2028.
It is understood Blues head coach Xabi Alonso had initially targeted Granit Xhaka for the role, but a move stalled after Sunderland insisted on retaining the Swiss midfielder.
Chelsea subsequently turned their attention to former Liverpool captain Henderson, bringing in the experienced midfielder to add balance and leadership to their squad ahead of the new campaign.
