For all of Spain’s intricate passing triangles around the penalty area, the hosts frequently found themselves running into a wall of blue shirts. Nico Williams offered a sporadic spark of creativity down the left flank, but his enticing low crosses repeatedly flashed across the face of goal without finding a decisive touch.
