Hoffenheim sign midfielder Wimmer from Wolfsburg

Hoffenheim have signed Austria international Patrick Wimmer from Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg.

​The 25-year-old attacking midfielder joins for a reported fee of €10m (£8.4m), though the length of his contract has not been disclosed.

​Wimmer, who featured for Austria at the World Cup, scored four goals and provided six assists in 27 appearances for Wolfsburg this season.

​”Hoffenheim showed impressive progress last season, boasting an exciting team and intense, attractive football,” Wimmer said.

​”What’s more, I know the coach from our time together at Austria Wien, where I became a professional footballer under Christian Ilzer. I’m delighted to be working with him again.”

​During his four-year spell with Wolfsburg, Wimmer made 104 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals.

​The former Arminia Bielefeld and Austria Vienna winger has been capped 30 times by his country..
