Crystal Palace Sign Ben Chilwell Permanently From Strasbourg

Crystal Palace have completed the permanent signing of England defender Ben Chilwell from Strasbourg, following the completion of international clearance.

Chilwell previously spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Palace from Chelsea, helping the club win the FA Cup for the first time in its history with victory at Wembley.

The defender spent last season with Strasbourg, making 34 appearances across all competitions, which included a meeting with Palace in the Europa Conference League.

Chilwell began his career at Leicester City, making 123 appearances over five years, before joining Chelsea in August 2020, where he won the Champions League and the Uefa Super Cup.

He moved to Palace on loan two seasons ago, featuring in 11 matches and scoring once as the club secured its first major domestic trophy.

At international level, Chilwell has won 21 caps for England, scoring once, and was part of the squad that reached the final of Euro 2020.

He becomes Palace’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Dwight McNeil, Ivan Gesand, Anan Khalili, Xavier Gozu, Axel Disasi and Honest Ahanor.

Chilwell said he was delighted to be back at Selhurst Park. “It’s great to be back. It’s nice to see some familiar faces, and I’m really excited to be back, see my team-mates and the fans, and start again.”
