Newcastle United target Osasuna winger Victor Munoz as Anthony Gordon replacement

Newcastle United are considering a move for Osasuna’s versatile winger Victor Munoz as they draw up plans for a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon, according to The Telegraph.

The Magpies have been monitoring the 22-year-old for several months, with senior figures at St James’ Park viewing him as an ideal fit for Eddie Howe’s squad as they look to reduce the average age of their starting line-up.

Munoz, who has earned a place in Spain’s World Cup squad, primarily operates on the left flank but can play across the front line. The former Real Madrid youngster enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in La Liga last season, making 34 appearances, scoring six goals and providing two assists.

Securing a forward has become a priority on Tyneside this week. While Newcastle face competition for his signature, they remain confident of reaching an agreement with both the player and the club. Munoz has a release clause of €40m (£34.5m) and is understood to be interested in a move to St James’ Park following initial talks.

Newcastle have also held discussions with Swedish side AIK over 18-year-old right-winger Sadok Johanne. The teenager is highly rated, but the Swedish club have insisted that reports of a £21m bid being accepted on Friday are incorrect.
