Spain final training cancelled ahead of World Cup final

Spain’s World Cup final preparations have been thrown into chaos after a severe thunderstorm forced the squad to abandon their final training session in New Jersey.

Luis de la Fuente’s side were due to undergo their final session at the Melani Lin training center just hours before the showpiece match, but US safety protocols mandated an immediate halt to all outdoor activities due to the risk of lightning strikes.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the squad waited for 45 minutes in the hope that the conditions would clear. However, with the storm showing no signs of relenting, officials were left with no choice but to call off the session entirely.

The Spanish Football Federation later confirmed the cancellation in an official statement, revealing that the players were forced indoors to conduct a recovery and gym session instead.

While the coaching staff had intended to use the session to finalize their tactical blueprints for the final, they must now rely on indoor drills as they prepare for the biggest game in world football.
