Arsenal and Reiss Nelson Part Ways

Arsenal have confirmed that Reiss Nelson has left the club, after both parties agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect, making the winger a free agent midway through the summer transfer window.
The north London club announced that Nelson’s exit brings to a close an 18-year association that began when he joined Arsenal’s academy as a boy, before working his way up through the youth ranks and into Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.
The 26-year-old made 90 appearances for the senior side across his career, scoring eight goals and providing nine assists. He was part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup in 2020, and also collected Community Shield winners’ medals in 2017 and 2020. Before his first-team breakthrough, Nelson featured 68 times for Arsenal’s academy sides, having signed his first professional contract with the club back in December 2016.
His time at Arsenal was punctuated by a series of loan spells away from the Emirates Stadium, starting in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim during the 2018-19 season, followed by a stint in the Netherlands with Feyenoord in 2021-22. He returned to English football via Fulham for the 2024-25 campaign, before spending last season on loan at Brentford.
Nelson’s departure closes the book on a relationship with the club stretching back almost two decades, from his earliest days in the academy through to representing the first team and sharing in its trophy successes. Arsenal thanked Nelson for his contribution over the years and wished him and his family well as he considers his next move.
