Chelsea close to £75m signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton
Chelsea are in the final stages of negotiations to sign England midfielder Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace in a deal worth around £75m
According to journalist John Herriott, negotiations are advanced for the 21-year-old, with the transfer fee expected to be around £75m. Wharton is understood to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, viewing the switch to west London as the ideal opportunity to further his development and challenge for major honors.
The England international enjoyed a stellar 2025-26 campaign, establishing himself as a standout performer for the Eagles. He made 53 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring once and providing seven assists to cement his reputation as one of the country’s brightest midfield prospects.
While Wharton’s move edges closer, Chelsea and Palace are also in dialogue over a separate deal for defender Axel Disasi. It is understood those discussions are entirely independent of the negotiations for Wharton.
