Galatasaray open talks with AC Milan over Rafael Leão

Galatasaray have opened direct transfer fee negotiations with AC Milan for Portuguese winger Rafael Leão, according to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu.

The 27-year-old forward has emerged as a top target for the Turkish giants as they look to secure one of the summer’s most eye-catching marquee transfers.

Talks between the two clubs are now under way regarding a permanent transfer structure, after initial inquiries centered on loan deals were firmly turned down by the Rossoneri.

AC Milan are understood to be seeking a fee between €40m and €50m for Leão, whose current deal at San Siro runs until June 2028. While the Italian side are open to selling the winger before the transfer window shuts, decision-makers in Milan remain adamant that any deal must satisfy their valuation.

Sabuncuoğlu reports that Galatasaray representatives have already held positive talks with Leão’s camp. Personal terms are being discussed, with the player viewing a move to Istanbul as a serious option for the next stage of his career.

Cross-city rivals Fenerbahçe have also shown strong interest, but Galatasaray’s move toward formal transfer fee negotiations has put them in a compelling position.

Leão, who played an instrumental role in Milan’s 2021-22 Serie A title campaign, faces an uncertain future in Italy following recent tactical shifts and team restructuring.

With the new season fast approaching, Galatasaray are pushing to reach a total agreement with Milan to complete the landmark deal.
