Lille complete Nianzou signing from Sevilla

Lille have completed the signing of French defender Tanguy Nianzou from Sevilla on a two-year contract.

The 24-year-old center-back returns to his homeland in a deal that includes a club option for a further twelve months. The move was officially confirmed via an announcement package published on Lille’s official account on the X platform, capturing the defender’s arrival and medical at the Domaine de Luchin training complex.

Nianzou, who came through the academy at Paris Saint-Germain before a spell at Bayern Munich, moved to Sevilla in August 2022. However, his time in Spain was heavily disrupted by fitness and form issues, limiting him to just 12 La Liga appearances during the 2025-26 campaign.

”The overwhelming emotion is pure joy,” Nianzou told Lille’s official website. “I’m incredibly happy to have had this opportunity to sign with LOSC, which I believe is the ideal club for the next stage of my career and offers the perfect environment to develop. The most important thing for me is to regain my full confidence, my smile, playing time, and thus be able to help the team win.”

The former France youth international brings a highly decorated pedigree back to Ligue 1, having already won a Europa League title with Sevilla in 2023, a Ligue 1 crown with PSG, and two Bundesliga trophies during his time in Germany.

He becomes a key addition to a Lille side now under the management of Davide Ancelotti, who took over after the club secured a third-place finish last term. Nianzou is expected to reinforce a defensive line that has lost key personnel, providing crucial depth as Les Dogues prepare for the added physical demands of Champions League football.

Lille will begin their domestic campaign away to Angers on August 23.
