Official: Benfica sign defender Lenglet from Atletico Madrid
Benfica have completed the signing of French defender Clément Lenglet from Atlético Madrid on a three-year contract.
The 31-year-old centre-back has committed his future to the Portuguese giants until the summer of 2029, ending his one-season stint in Madrid.
Lenglet’s arrival provides a significant boost to manager Marco Silva’s squad as they look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
The former France international brings a wealth of top-level European experience to Lisbon, having previously turned out for Nancy, Sevilla, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa.
The transfer also benefits Atlético Madrid, with the La Liga side freeing up space on their wage bill to pursue their own defensive targets.
