Official: Fabinho leaves Al-Ittihad

Al-Ittihad have officially announced the departure of midfielder Fabinho, bringing an end to the Brazilian’s three-year spell with the Saudi Pro League club.
The former Liverpool man served as captain during a highly successful period for the team, playing a pivotal role in securing a domestic league and cup double during the 2024-25 season.
Paying tribute to the midfielder on X, Al-Ittihad described Fabinho as a “brave captain” who leaves an “unforgettable imprint” on the club.
”He was an example of professionalism, a role model for everyone around him both on and off the pitch, and a name that deserves to be remembered among those who wore the captain’s armband during a historic phase,” the club stated.
”Thank you, Fabinho… You will remain a shining star in the hearts of the fans.”
Fabinho joined Al-Ittihad from Liverpool in the summer of 2023. During his time in Saudi Arabia, he made 83 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists.
In an emotional message to the supporters, the Brazilian confirmed his departure while thanking the fanbase for their support.
”Today marks the end of my journey with you as a player and the beginning of my journey as a supporter of this club,” Fabinho said. “Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality I received from you. I was honoured to wear the captain’s armband for this prestigious club and experienced a remarkable phase in my sporting career with you.
”We shared joys and sorrows, won trophies together, and I enjoyed watching your creativity in the stands to the point where I now chant with you all out of love. I hope I never spared any effort in serving this club. Thank you once again; the club will always remain in my heart.”
