Raheem Sterling arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after motorway crash

Former England international Raheem Sterling has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and dangerous driving following a single-vehicle crash on the M3 motorway.
According to the Sun, The 31-year-old Feyenoord winger was detained on Thursday morning after his Lamborghini collided with a roadside barrier near the Minley Interchange on the southbound carriage in Hampshire. Emergency services attended the scene just before 09:00 BST, confirming that no other vehicles were involved in the incident and no injuries were reported.
Hampshire Police confirmed that Sterling, a resident of Berkshire, was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug, and failing to provide a specimen. Under UK legislation, Class C substances cover a range of materials, including certain prescription tranquilizers, anabolic steroids, and nitrous oxide. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
The arrest marks a challenging personal chapter for the forward, who moved to the Dutch Eredivisie with Feyenoord earlier this year following his departure from Chelsea and a subsequent loan spell at Arsenal. At his peak, Sterling was one of English football’s most prominent figures, winning four Premier League titles, five League Cups, and the FA Cup during a highly successful seven-year stint with Manchester City.
Sterling also earned 82 caps for the Three Lions, scoring 20 goals, and was a pivotal figure in England’s runs to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals and the final of Euro 2020. Neither Feyenoord nor representatives for the player have yet released an official statement regarding the active police investigation.
