Real Madrid join PSG in race to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres
Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, joining Paris St-Germain in pursuit of Spain’s 2026 World Cup final match-winner.
The 26-year-old’s stock has risen significantly following his decisive goal against Argentina to secure the global crown for La Roja.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Real have registered their interest in the past few hours as they weigh up a shock move for their fierce rivals’ attacker.
However, they face stiff competition from PSG. Former Spain manager Luis Enrique has already held direct talks with Torres in an attempt to convince him to move to the French capital, leaning on their previous relationship with the national team.
The Ligue 1 champions are eager to reinforce their forward line ahead of the anticipated departures of Bradley Barcola and Lee Kang-in, as well as Goncalo Ramos’ transfer to AC Milan.
Despite the mounting outside interest, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona remain committed to keeping Torres and plan to hold a meeting with the player next week to resolve his future.
The Catalan club aim to extend his current deal, which is set to expire on 30 June 2027.
Yet, owing to strict financial fair play restrictions, Barcelona will be unable to officially process any contract renewal until September.
This bureaucratic delay has left the door ajar for both Real Madrid and PSG, who continue to closely monitor the forward’s situation as the summer transfer window progresses.
