Slaven Bilic Appointed Croatia Head Coach for Second Term
Slaven Bilic has been appointed head coach of the Croatia national team, returning for a second term in charge, the Croatian Football Federation announced today.
Bilic, who previously managed the national side from 2006 to 2012, replaces his predecessor with immediate effect to oversee a major rebuilding phase. During his first tenure, he successfully guided Croatia to the UEFA European Championships in both 2008 and 2012.
The veteran manager brings extensive club and international experience to the role, following subsequent managerial stints at West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Beşiktaş, and Al-Ittihad.
The federation stated that Bilic’s immediate mandate is to navigate a transitional period for the squad while maintaining Croatia’s position among football’s global elite, following the gradual departure of the country’s highly successful “golden generation.”
