Roma Agree Deal to Sign Marten de Roon from Atalanta
Roma have agreed a deal in principle to sign Marten de Roon from Atalanta, with the midfielder set to put pen to paper on a contract running until 2028, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 35-year-old is due to undergo a medical and finalise the paperwork on Saturday, with the transfer fee set at €1m.
De Roon initially arrived at Atalanta in 2015, but was sold to Middlesbrough just a year later. He returned to the club in 2017 and went on to become captain during a second spell in Bergamo.
He leaves as the club’s record appearance-maker, having featured 455 times, scoring 23 goals and setting up a further 32. De Roon also won the Europa League with Atalanta in 2024.
The move reunites him with Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini, who managed De Roon at Atalanta for eight years between 2017 and 2025.
