Arsenal Complete Signing of Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa

Arsenal have officially announced the signing of England international defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa on a long-term deal, in a fresh move to strengthen their backline.
The 28-year-old began his professional career at Charlton Athletic in 2016, before moving on to Brentford in 2018. He arrived at Aston Villa the following year, going on to spend seven seasons at the club and featuring in more than 200 Premier League matches across all competitions during his time there.
Konsa is well regarded for his versatility, capable of playing both as a centre-back and at right-back, giving Arsenal extra flexibility across the back line. On the international stage, he came through England’s youth ranks before making his senior debut in 2023, and has since represented the Three Lions at both Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta said the club were pleased to complete the signing, describing Konsa as a high-quality defender whose physical attributes, composure and tactical intelligence have made him one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League. Berta added that Konsa’s ability to operate in both defensive positions would offer the team valuable flexibility, and pointed to his experience, leadership and character as qualities that should allow him to make an immediate impact at the club.
Konsa will wear the number 15 shirt at Arsenal and joins up with his new teammates with immediate effect.
