Chelsea sign Valentin Barco from Strasbourg
Chelsea have completed the signing of Argentina international Valentin Barco from French side Strasbourg.
The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term contract running until 2033 and will join up with the squad for pre-season training under head coach Xabi Alonso.
Barco began his senior career with Boca Juniors, making his first-team debut at just 16, before moving to the Premier League with Brighton in 2024.
Following loan spells at Sevilla and Strasbourg, he secured a permanent move to the Ligue 1 outfit. He went on to enjoy a standout 2024-25 campaign, helping guide Strasbourg to European qualification.
The versatile Argentine registered 12 goal contributions in 43 appearances across all competitions last season, earning himself a spot in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Barco has earned five senior caps for his country to date.
