Hamburg Sign Fábio Vieira From Arsenal on Permanent Deal

Hamburg have completed the permanent signing of Fábio Vieira from Arsenal on deadline day.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Hamburg, impressing with seven goals and five assists in all competitions, finishing as the club’s top scorer and top assist provider with 13 goal contributions in 31 appearances.

Sporting director Kathleen Krüger said: “Fábio is a football artist in the true sense of the word, possessing exceptional technical skills and a wonderful sense of the ball. He proved this impressively last season.”

The move is seen as a significant statement of intent for the club, with the player having chosen to commit his future to the project out of conviction.

Sporting director Klaus Costa added: “We all know Fábio’s value. He was a game-changer for us last season and possesses abilities that add a special quality to our style of play.”

Vieira said he was delighted to be returning on a permanent basis. “I am very happy to be back here. I know the club, the fans, and many of my team-mates, so I feel like I have returned to my place. I can’t wait to start working again.”

Born in Portugal in 2000, Vieira came through the Porto academy before joining Arsenal in 2022. He was named best player at the European Under-21 Championship in 2021.
